Katie Jones of Baytown, Texas plays for Houston Stellar Volleyball Club and will continue her academic and athletic career at Nicholls State University in Thibodaux, Louisiana.

When did you first start playing sports? 

I started playing sports when I was 9 years old.

What would your coaches say is your best quality? 

My coaches always say that I’m dependable and do the job when it is necessary. They trust me to do what it takes to succeed.

Who are your inspirations/heroes? 

My inspirations would have to be my Mom and all the coaches I’ve ever had. They have stood behind me and pushed me to be the athlete I have become.

What is your proudest sports moment? 

My proudest moment was probably coming back from a 21-11 deficit. I pushed through with my team in the playoffs, and we came back and won the game.

What are your game day superstitions/routines? 

During school season, I would wear a lucky 2001 penny on my shoe, for the year my school’s volleyball program was established.

What was the most challenging part of the recruiting process? 

Dealing with rejection and not being what the college program wanted.

How did FieldLevel help you with the recruiting process?

It helped me reach out to coaches that I never thought I would become interested in!

If you could give one piece of advice to high school athletes going through the recruiting process, what would it be? 

Don’t give up. Anything is possible. Don’t stop believing in your dreams.
