Featured Athlete: Andrew Spisz
Andrew Spisz of Fenton, Michigan played for the Army Ants Coalition lacrosse team before committing to play at Lawrence Tech University in Southfield, Michigan.
When did you first start playing sports?
I first started playing soccer when I was 4 years old. Then added Wrestling at 6, Football at 7 and finally Lacrosse at 10.
What would your coaches say is your best quality?
My coaches would say my drive to do whatever it takes to help the team win and my hatred to losing at anything I’m involved with.
Who are your inspirations/heroes?
My dad for pushing me to give everything I had, no matter what the circumstance, and for supporting me and my 5 younger brothers with everything we do.
What is your proudest sports moment?
Being a 3-sport athlete all through high school, I’ve had so many exciting moments. The one that comes to mind is scoring 4 goals in a Regional Final Lacrosse game against our crosstown rival, Brighton, and beating them for the first time in 10 years.
What are your game day superstitions/routines?
My main game day routine is wearing mid-calf socks no matter what sport I participate in.
What was the most challenging part of the recruiting process?
The most challenging part of the process to me was answering all the phone calls from the college coaches. I was always very nervous, as I knew what was on the line with each conversation.
How did FieldLevel help you with the recruiting process?
FieldLevel helped me get in touch with DOZENS of out of state colleges, that I would have never knew had any interest in me playing for them.
If you could give one piece of advice to high school athletes going through the recruiting process, what would it be?
Be patient and make the right decision for you and your family. Remember you go to college to learn and for the degree, the sport you participate in makes it a little more exciting.
