Featured Athlete: Matt Horvath
Matt Horvath from Dallas, Texas played for Jesuit College Prep Dallas before committing to play for Spring Hill College in Mobile, AL. Due to a personal illness, Matt is unable to continue playing at the next level. However, his perseverance to find a new path and courage in the face of adversity is an inspiration to us all.
When did you first start playing sports?
I first started playing baseball when I was 4 years old.
What would your coaches say is your best quality?
My high school coach would say I give a 100% in everything I do, and that goes beyond just baseball.
What is your proudest sports moment?
My proudest sports moment is helping lead my high school (Jesuit Dallas) to a Texas 6a baseball championship. I couldn’t imagine ending my career any other way. That or being named the district offensive MVP my senior season.
What are your game day superstitions/routines?
My biggest superstitious routine was having my wrist taped by the same trainer before every game and then writing the initials of my grandmother in red sharpie on it.
Who are your inspirations/heroes? 
My grandfather is my biggest inspiration.
What was the most challenging part of the recruiting process?
Getting your name out and getting coaches to contact and recognize you.
How did FieldLevel help you with the recruiting process?
FieldLevel helped boost confidence in my ability by providing reports with the names of schools and coaches that were interested in me as player. It made me realize that I really could be a collegiate baseball player.
If you could give one piece of advice to high school athletes going through the recruiting process, what would it be?
Don’t be afraid to contact coaches yourself. The more coaches that hear your name, the better, and the more likely to increases your chances of getting an offer.
