California Catcher Receives Scholarship From DII School With FieldLevel
Sierra College assistant baseball coach Ryan Stevens was an all-conference baseball player for Sierra College and Sonoma State University before becoming a coach. Coach Stevens and the Sierra College baseball team are part of the Big 8 Conference in the CCCAA, “which is recognized as one of the nation’s top baseball conferences” and finished the season ranked #3 overall in the state of California. The Wolverine’s catcher was sophomore Clint Brill, a starter all season long after seeing limited time his freshman year.
“Clint was our stopper behind the plate all season. He’s great defensively who can also handle the bat pretty well. We knew he had the ability to play at the next level and wanted to provide him any opportunity where we thought he could succeed”, says Coach Stevens
Coach Stevens typically makes numerous phone calls and sends a dozens of emails to 4-year coaching contacts to help his players get recruited. However, Coach Stevens wasn’t getting nearly as much interest in Clint as he thought his catcher deserved, so he utilized FieldLevel instead. Coach Stevens sent out Clint’s FieldLevel profile to the coaches in his network and within days, he was receiving emails, phone calls, and messages about Clint. Cal State Stanislaus was impressed with what they saw in Clint’s FieldLevel profile, spoke with Clint and Coach Stevens, and decided to offer Clint a scholarship.
“Without FieldLevel, Clint may have not found the best opportunity for him to play college baseball. Now, he has a scholarship to a great school and baseball program where I think he will start next season. I can’t wait to get my incoming players on FieldLevel.”
